Let the World Be Filled with Love

Three years ago, First Racquet began with a very small idea — a few kids, some tennis racquets, and a quiet sense of refusal: a refusal to let passion exist only where resources are abundant.

First Racquet is a small, youth-led nonprofit organization. Headquartered in Houston, it has gradually taken root in Austin, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, and Baltimore. Week after week, the students give their weekends and their sweat—hosting charity tennis tournaments and training camps. Side by side with generous sponsors, they gather support piece by piece, carrying it across oceans and mountains to Angola, Africa.

Three years have passed. One group of students graduates, and another steps forward. Some leave high school behind; others walk onto college courts. The students of First Racquet know this well: the road is long, and the work may seem small. But persistence, when sustained, always finds its echo.

After a full year of effort, planning, and waiting in 2025, the donated equipment finally arrived in Angola in early 2026.

A gentle breeze moved through green fields. Under a wide blue sky, children held their racquets, their smiles bright and pure. Somewhere in the world, quietly, something had begun to change.

“Gently holding your face,

  wiping away your tears.

This heart will always belong to you,

telling you that you are no longer alone.

  Gazing deeply into your eyes,

  no more words are needed.

  Holding your hand tightly,

  this warmth remains unchanged.”
