On Saturday, July 6, 2024, First Racquet proudly marked its one-year anniversary by hosting another successful UTR Charity Open—this time featuring a thrilling doubles-only tournament!
The event drew an impressive turnout of 46 players, featuring 36 matches over an 8-hour period. We once again saw the diverse range of ages, sizes, and skill levels, with each player demonstrating remarkable dedication, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship in their play.

The vibrant atmosphere was not only fueled by the players but also by the incredible support from volunteers at Shadow Creek High School, sponsors Dr. Eric Ramirez and Tu Tran, and the enthusiastic parents. Meanwhile, Stanley and Krish provided refreshing ice-cold popsicles and homemade cookies at their concession stand, offering a much-needed treat for the tired athletes, especially in the blazing summer heat.
By the late afternoon, heavy thunderstorms swept through the area, forcing an unexpected pause in the matches. Despite the weather, no one was disheartened. Players, volunteers, and spectators alike showed incredible resilience, huddling together under shelters, gathering important items, and waiting patiently for the storm to pass. The way everyone remained positive, helped each other, and eagerly awaited the resumption of play was truly inspiring to us.
As always, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event possible. Our team members, the hardworking volunteers from Shadow Creek High School, our generous sponsors, and the entire community who showed up in full force—we couldn’t have done it without you. Our events and efforts are made possible by your generosity and support!
