Baltimore, MD — The Rosedale Recreational Council Tennis Program hosted its annual Thanksgiving Round Robin on Saturday, bringing together local players for an evening of tennis, community, and charitable giving. This year’s event marked a special collaboration with First Racquet, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children in Angola through tennis, which recently launched its Baltimore chapter.

Held at the Northeast Recreational Center, the event drew approximately 30 participants, including six high school volunteers who assisted with setup, organization, and on-court activities. Players and supporters gathered early to enjoy catered food and a chance to socialize before matches began at 8:00 p.m.
The round robin featured six 25-minute doubles rounds, offering players of all levels the chance to rotate partners and enjoy friendly competition. The night concluded with a lively 30-minute King of the Courts matchup, led by high school varsity players who served as the starting “kings.”
Attendees also contributed to First Racquet’s mission by donating gently used tennis racquets, sneakers, and athletic clothing. These items will help expand tennis access for youth in Angola and support the nonprofit’s growing efforts in the region.
The successful partnership between Rosedale’s tennis community and First Racquet highlights the power of sport to bring people together while making a meaningful global impact.
